USA Storm Chasing Expedition - 27 April, 2009

National Weather Service has been entered into the scanner.

Welcome to Oklahoma.

Lots of driving.

Small storm off in the distance.

Very small storm.

Still.. It is warned as being dangerous...

I'm going after it.

Time to test my storm chasing skills.

And see if my Wireless internet connection is any good.

No drop outs so far.

Water on road.

Lots of water on Road.

Very heavy rain.

Captures the moment.

Same thing.. Lots of water.

Back on the road, chasing a small cell.

My first report on the spotter network. Isolated flooding in CBD.

My setup today.

Getting there.

Nice "little" shelf cloud.

Looks scary, but its not that bad.

However the tornado sirens did go off in the town earlier, someone spotted a funnel.

Entering the bears cage..  (being "cored"). With a pathetically weak storm.

Perhaps I should have said "kittens cage"

It does rain hard though.

No hail on this cell.

Exiting the cage.

Almost there.

Look back at the small storm.

Tulsa here I come.

Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Heading south west to Oklahoma City.

Nice rays of light here.

Not too long a chase.

I was not expecting anything.

These cells popped out of nowhere.

Oklahoma... (GPS says "Keep left")

RADAR IMAGES

This is what those storms looked like.

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued.

Chasing a "semi dangerous" cell.

Entering the cell.

In the yellow stuff.. (This is were the flooding was)

Exiting the cell, with a clean car.
